Activated alumina A05 is a highly porous, synthetically manufactured form of aluminum oxide (Al₂O₃). It is used primarily as a desiccant to remove moisture from gases and liquids. It’s also used to filter water and to purify gas streams by selectively adsorbing certain molecules.

A05 is inert, non-toxic and can adsorb gases and liquids without changing its form. Even if submersed in liquid it will remain stable and does not degrade or soften. It has a low dust surface, high crush strength, and can withstand temperatures as low as -40°C. 

A05 can be reused by heating to a temperature between 177°C to 316°C. This allows for repeated use without loss of performance.

Typical Applications Include:

• Compressed air drying systems

• Liquid phase drying

• Treatment of transformer oils, lubricants, and refrigerants

• Drying of natural gas and liquefied natural gas (LNG)

With its exceptional thermal and chemical stability, Activated Alumina A05 is well-suited for demanding environments and extreme temperature applications. It remains one of the most cost-effective and reliable solutions for moisture control, particularly in compressed air systems.
